The Central Alberta Chinese Culture Centre (CACCC) was established in 2024 in response to the growing needs of Chinese families and individuals settling in Central Alberta.
As new immigrants arrived in Red Deer and surrounding communities, many faced challenges related to social integration, access to support, and mental well-being. At the same time, the region increasingly reflected the need for greater cultural diversity and inclusive community spaces. CACCC was founded to help newly arrived Chinese families transition into local life, gradually build social connections, and feel a sense of belonging within the broader community.
From the beginning, CACCC focused on enriching cultural life within the Chinese community while promoting mental well-being through meaningful social, cultural, and recreational activities. We recognized the importance of creating opportunities for youth and children—providing alternatives to excessive screen time and offering spaces where young people could develop skills, confidence, and social connections across generations.
Community needs have continued to guide CACCC’s growth. Since 2022, our volunteers and founding members have actively supported community initiatives, including partnering with Ecssens Career School to distribute bread and food supplies to people in need and to organizations such as the Red Deer Food Bank and Veterans Food Bank. These early efforts laid the foundation for CACCC’s commitment to community care and mutual support.
CACCC has also collaborated with the City of Red Deer’s ReConnect Program, organizing 11 community gatherings that fostered new friendships and strengthened social connections among participants. In partnership with CARE for Newcomers (formerly Central Alberta Refugee Efforts), CACCC delivered Chinese Culture Storytelling sessions in local libraries and schools, supporting cross-cultural learning and inclusion.
To promote well-being, CACCC worked with Sylvan Lake Meditation Lab to offer meditation classes for community members. We have supported educational and youth-focused initiatives as well, including showcasing robotics programs for children under the care of Heritage Family Services of Red Deer, and providing financial support to Red Deer Chinese School beginning in September 2025.
Through these programs and partnerships, CACCC has grown from a community response to an active organization committed to cultural connection, youth development, mental well-being, and inclusive community building in Central Alberta.
中阿尔伯塔中华文化中心（Central Alberta Chinese Culture Centre，简称 CACCC） 成立于 2024 年，源于中阿尔伯塔地区华人家庭与个人不断增长的社区需求。
随着越来越多的新移民来到红鹿市及周边地区，许多人在融入本地生活、获取社区支持以及精神健康方面面临挑战。同时，中部阿尔伯塔地区也逐渐展现出对多元文化和包容性社区空间的迫切需求。CACCC 正是在这样的背景下成立，旨在帮助新来的华人家庭顺利过渡，逐步融入本地社会，并在更广泛的社区中建立归属感。
自成立之初，CACCC 便专注于丰富华人社区的文化生活，并通过多样化的文化、社交和娱乐活动促进社区成员的精神健康。我们特别关注青少年与儿童的发展需求，希望为他们创造更多锻炼与成长的机会，减少对电子产品的依赖，搭建平台，让年轻人与孩子们在积极、健康的环境中建立联系与自信。
社区需求始终推动着 CACCC 的发展。自 2022 年起，CACCC 的志愿者与创始成员便积极参与社区服务，与 Ecssens Career School 合作，向有需要的人群以及红鹿食品银行、退伍军人食品银行等机构分发面包和食品。这些早期行动为 CACCC 日后持续参与社区互助奠定了基础。
CACCC 还参与了 红鹿市政府的 ReConnect 项目，组织了 11 场社区聚会，帮助参与者建立新的友谊，增强社区凝聚力。我们与 CARE for Newcomers（前身为 Central Alberta Refugee Efforts） 合作，在图书馆和学校开展 中华文化故事分享活动，促进跨文化理解与交流。

通过这些项目与合作，CACCC 从回应社区需求起步，逐步发展成为一个致力于文化联结、青少年发展、精神健康和包容性社区建设的非营利组织，持续服务中阿尔伯塔地区。
